Study Guide: Conduction
Vocabulary
- Conduction
What is Heat Conduction?
Heat conduction (thermal conduction) is the movement of heat from one object to another when they are touching each other. The materials themselves don’t move; only the heat is transferred. The other methods of heat transfer are conduction and radiation.
For example, when cold hands hold a hot-water bottle, heat flows from the bottle to the colder hands, but no material is transferred.
